The Red Door Part Four.

I straighten out the faded blue dress as Gregory pulls up the brown coat-jacket.
I open the door with a short tug, I squirm a bit as I pass my room, I can hear the faint clicking of a typewriter, I exchange looks with my brother who is beside me. I start going downstairs, But look back at the red door. “We should go back” I whisper. Gregory nods, we go back inside the room and shut the red door. I open it again, salty air hits my lungs and an ocean spray soils my dress, “Gregory!” I shout flailing out of the room onto a ship deck. A captain with no eye and no leg chuckles down at me
 “Get away from my sister!”
I look back and see my brother holding a knife. Thank God mom told him he can have his  knife back.
I stumble back to my feet and run back inside. Gregory shuts the door. “How do we get home?”  I pick up the box with pictures and see a ship at sea. I look through all the pictures and find nothing that would bring us home. “Gregor, did you take a picture of our house yet with your phone?” I ask. He nods handing it over. I hold the phone and find a picture of our home. Gregory opens the door; I can hear the footsteps of our mother approaching. “We should go down”
“Should we tell them about this weird door?”
“Nah, but we should do this again”
“Sounds like a plan”
“Now let’s have some Dinner”.

So that’s the story, we went into other places and different worlds through the faded Red Door. We are still trying to figure out this mystery.

Thanks for reading!
I'm thinking of writing more to it, more adventures in-depth with them and The Red Door

I'll give an update if I win anything or if I am an Honorable mention

Sincerely,
A.C. Garbarino

The Red Door Part Three (Of Four Parts)

I stare at the box; I've been doing this for hours. Gregory stands across the room searching for a key. I tried opening it, it didn't budge.
“Can’t you just lock pick it?” He says sighing.
“Does it look like I’m an expert?” I say pulling a few bobby-pins from my hair, I kneel next to it
Pushing the pins into the lock, I twist and turn digging it deeper into the metal. After a minute a small “Click” sounds. I place my hands on both corners looking back at my brother, he gives a nod. I open it, a small pile of old clothes sits dusty, a stack of books, a pair of old work shoes and another box without a lock. I open the box, old pictures are inside, I pick up the first one, a young girl about my age sits in a chair, a young man about my brother’s age stands above her.
I look closer… they look familiar; I look to my brother then to the picture then back again.
“Gregory…its…this will sound crazy but, it’s us.”

Gregory snatches the photo from my hands looking at it. I look back inside the large box, I move some things around and find a journal, every page is written in. “Winnie, what’s going on? What does this mean?”
I look to my brother, his face weaved with confusion.  “Who are we really?” he asks
“Winifred! Gregory! Dinners ready!” Mom calls, her voice is cut off. I run to the door opening it, the hall is different, my room door is closed and newly painted. “Katherine! James! Supper is ready!” A man’s voice calls. I gasp closing the door “Gregory… I- I think we just went back in time” I utter. “Or maybe to, our real lives”.
I pick up the clothes that would fit me and my brother “I have an Idea”.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Plus, The Red Door Part 2 (of four parts)

Hello! Hope you've had a good last year, and wish you all a wonderful one ahead!

To kick off the New Year, I decided to give you Part 2 for The Red Door
Short story!

The Red Door
(Part 2)

I open the door, a simple room sits empty, the bleak walls and flooring grey, like an old pale moon. In the middle sits a large box, layers upon layers of dust sits atop it. I walk towards it hesitantly; my fingers graze the old cherry wood, engravings of forest scenes. “Gregory!” I shout pulling my hazel hair back nervously.
I hear my brother’s feet approaching. He pokes his head in “What is it Winnie-The-Pooh?” he asks stepping inside glancing at the box. (I hate the pet name he gave me)
“What is that?” he says mouth agape. “I don’t know genius” I reply standing up crossing my arms. Gregory carefully approaches it as if it was dangerous.
“Seriously, Gregory it’s a stupid box!”
“Winnie… do you have any clue what this is?”
“No, why should I…and why should you?”
“This is from my dream… a few nights ago…Winnie listen to me!” he yells
I snap out of a trance “What” I growl
“Open it”.

Thanks for reading and have a great rest of the day!

Sincerely,
A.C. Garbarino.

(Part three will be coming out next Tuesday the seventh)

The Red Door Part 1

Nobody would have believed me when I told I could travel through time with my brother
By going through a red door, at the end of the hallway, in my house.

I place the last box from the moving truck into my new room, I sigh looking around at the clutter of the room. My name is Winifred Gregory; I am Twelve years old and just recently moved to an old Victorian home. I walk over to the large bay window and sit in the nook. I look outside at the trees and the birds singing merrily. I look below; my father slams the moving trucks door and starts up the engine. My mother left me with my older brother (Now please do not chuckle or laugh at his first name) Gregory…Yes I know his full name is Gregory. P. Gregory.
I get up peeking down the hallway, to my right, and then to my left, I catch a glimpse of my brother banging his head listening to his “Totally Awesome” music. I tip-toe down the hall,
I try opening a door but it doesn't open, I go down the long hallway to the end, the door is painted a faded red. I knock on it, It slowly creaks open, I grab hold of the door knob; I look back at the bouncing shadow of my brother.

Thanks for reading,
Part 2 of The Red Door will be posted later this week!
NOTE: This is a Four part story.

Sincerely,

A.C. Garbarino.
